Bro. George Cook
New Jersey resident Bro. George Cook brings Nubian news and social views as host of "Let's Talk Honestly: Black
News & Views" The show is based on his "Let's Talk Honestly" website which informs the Black community about
the current state of race relations in the U.S.
Actively involved with acts of social consciousness, Bro. George delivered the speech "Why We Are Here" at the
Washington, DC Jena 6 protest.
This down-to-earth Brother shares the following info about himself, taken directly from his website:
"My name is George Cook. I'm in my late thirties. I am a African American man married with one child. I served in
the army from '91 to '94 after a year of college at Virginia State University an African American college where I
developed my love for writing. I am also an NAACP member
I am an avid sports fan who coaches young kids (10-14 year olds) in intramural basketball and football as a way to
keep the little knuckleheads out of trouble. The flag football team I coach the Hillside Giants won the town
championship in November 2005 due to my excellent coaching...(smile). My favorite teams are the NY Football
Giants and my beloved Syracuse Orange Basketball Team. 2003 NCAA champs just in case you didn't know.
Enough about me here's more about my site want my site to be a site of commentary, discussion and resources
for the African American Community. That is why I have the "web site" page where I will list your site for free and
also try to list the many African American web sites that show all the creative sides of blacks in America.
I want my site to be a place where African American poets can post their work meet each other and maybe get a
little exposure.
I also want my site to provoke thought and start discussion, which is why I have the BLACK NEWS, BLACK VIEWS
and the LTH WEEKLY WEB CAST here I give my opinions on issues that affect our community. Please check the
show and the BLACK NEWS, BLACK VIEWS out.
I want my site (Damn I want a lot don't I) to be a place for African Americans to come chill and hopefully learn a
little something. I hope I succeed in making this site all that and more.
I would also like to answer a question I am often asked about the site.
Why is the site called Let's Talk Honestly?
It's called Let's Talk Honestly because the site was originally a site for my chap book of poetry entitled Let's Talk
Honestly 'My Poetry.'
I soon realized I was spending money and not selling many books so I transformed the site into a poetry and
literature site to try to at least break even. Well it worked and I am just to damn lazy to change the name so that's
why it's called Let's Talk Honestly.
Now I want to hear all your thoughts and opinions about my site and writings. Come on black people.
Let's Talk Honestly..."
